On Wednesday, October 30 th, 2019 Mr. Peter Bartlett, Counselor and Representative for the MBIE (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) of New Zealand here in Europe, together with Ms. Dr. Regina Eisert, Government's Coordinator for the New Zealand-Germany Science and Innovation Relationship, visited our Institute.
The aim of the meeting was to receive updates on the many activities of the German-New Zealand International Research Training Group on Soft Tissue Robotics project, which is funded on the German side by the DFG (GRK 2198/1) and for which Prof. Röhrle is the German spokesperson.
Prof. Röhrle welcomed the delegation together with almost all of the IRTG Ph.D. students and Post-Docs. Following the spirit of the project and under the coordination of Simona Galliani, Dr. Akos Csiszar (ISW Institute) presented the work done for the past two years. The presentation, realized with the contribution of the entire group of Ph.D. students, paved the way for the discussion that followed, especially with regard to the interdisciplinary nature of the project and the developments towards specific applications.
The day ended with a visit in the afternoon to the laboratories of the Fraunhofer IPA Institute, where the delegation, together with Prof. Röhrle, had the opportunity to test on their selves the effectiveness of the next generation of exoskeletons.
